Art therapy

Art therapy is the application of psychological knowledge and expertise in various forms of art to design processes that facilitate healing and maintain mental balance.

Art serves as a medium of communication, both among the individuals receiving therapy and between the individual and the art therapist. Professional art therapists design and supervise each step of the therapeutic process, ensuring safety throughout the session.

The types of art used in the process depend on the objectives and suitability for the participant, including drawing, painting, sculpting, collage making, and many more.
Art therapy emphasizes the significance of the participant's interpretation of their work, free from judgment by the therapist.

Participants do not need any prior art experience.

Who is art therapy suitable for ?

Art therapy is suitable for everyone, regardless of their artistic skills, making it accessible for all genders and ages. A professional art therapist designs the process to best suit each individual or group.

Art therapy can be conducted in both individual and group settings. These two formats differ in the therapy goals, duration of each session, and the therapeutic processes used, which depend on the client's needs and the therapist’s assessment of what is appropriate.

Art therapy can work with children, adolescents, working adults, and the elderly. The therapist tailors the process to the psychological needs of each age group and the specific issues the individual wants to address.
